Preschool-at-Home

Mothers of young children are often excited about teaching their young child at home or forming a preschool co-op with a couple other families but may lack some knowledge and confidence to get started. Now there is help in the Wasatch Front area of Utah.

The Preschool-at-Home workshop is provided as an educational service to parents of young children who are contemplating teaching their own preschooler instead of paying for a traditional preschool. There are no products for sale. So relax while you learn how to use what you have and your local library to your child’s advantage.

Penny Gardner is offering a 2-hour workshop for moms who will provide preschool-at-home. If you are considering kindergarten-at-home, you’ll get lots of ideas as well. Get off on the right foot with this multimedia presentation. Workshop covers tips on starting a preschool co-op, age-appropriate preschool and kindergarten activities, developing a well-rounded child, pre-academic skills, early math skills, and beginning reading.

Penny Gardner’s background & qualifications include:

  • 4 years teaching first grade; 2 years additional experience in elementary classrooms
  • cooperative preschool experiences with my two oldest children from 1987-1991
  • preschool at home with my four younger children
  • 20 years experience as a homeschool mother
  • nationally-known speaker on teaching children at home
  • grandmother of a preschooler and infant

To set up a “Preschool-at-Home” workshop, spread the word to your friends until you have at least 8 interested parents. (Note: You are not committing to preschool with these families but likely the 2 or 3 others that join your co-op will attend. You then have the option of a larger association of families to join in big events like parties or field trips.)

Once you have several moms who will attend the workshop, contact Penny Gardner to set up a time for the workshop in your home. Workshop fee is $15 per person. The hostess is free and may invite one friend to attend at no charge.

After the workshop, attendees will receive a 34-page packet that includes notes, references, resources, and more in-depth information than is included in the presentation. A second 9-page packet of picture cards may be printed on card stock, colored, laminated, and cut. ($10 value)
