Easy Duets for Catholics: Reviews

““The kids had a fun time learning the recorder. The harmonies were very easy on the ears, and the music choices were lovely. As a novice, learning with my kids, I was glad to see a fingering
Faith of Our Fathers
chart in the back of the book.
We were not familiar with some of the pieces, so playing them required good sight reading skills--something we could all improve! Once or twice through, and we could easily play together. The pieces are very Catholic in note and lyric. The lyrics provided us all with a chance to join in, even if we were not playing. We especially enjoyed your simple arrangements of ‘Immaculate Mary’ and ‘Faith of Our Fathers,’ while the more complex ‘Thou art my Hope, Dear Sacred Heart’ kept my more advanced kids counting out the rhythm for the younger ones. I am sure this book will be greeted by the Catholic homeschooling community with great joy!

Thank you, Penny!” --MacBeth Derham, NY

"We could not be happier with the Nine-Note Recorder Method and with Easy Duets for Catholics! As a result of their hard work, our eighth graders presented a mini recorder Christmas concert for the school immediately after our all school Mass this month. The students had only easy Catholic hymn duetbeen practicing for about a month! Another benefit from teaching the students to use recorders is that some students have found that they have a great talent for music and never knew it!" --Bob Hamm, principal at Sacred Heart Academy in San Diego, CA.

“I love the songs! These are the songs I want my children to play and sing. This would be great for a family time, having some playing while the rest of us sing. I think we NEED these songs that are easy to play and sing. They are the embodiment of the Faith which is all but lost in the modern song.” -- Julie LaMotte, Louisiana

“Just a quick note to tell you that I enjoyed a conference given by you on Long Island about a year or so ago. I was impressed with your recorder ideas and began right away with Marie, Theresa, and John. I also learn with them. We SO enjoy recorder time. We play the two part songs and have fun with the rounds. The method is fool proof....take it from me! We have no problem sticking with it because we feel like we're making progress. We hope to perform next year in our homeschool support group for St. Patrick's Day.
Being Catholic, I'm so grateful for the Catholic songs book. May God bless you especially for this grace filled Christian effort.” --Lorraine F. in NY
